Jenny Barber is a Fantasycon addict. She co-chaired Fantasycon in 2006 and 2007 and has been involved in various roles in many, many others. (And you don't want to see the therapy bills!) She edited Here & Now magazine (and apologises profusely), edited a couple of British Fantasy Society publications, has had fiction published in Dark Horizons, Kimota and Graveyard Rendezvous and currently slush reads for assorted venues while studying for a History BA and attempting to commit crimes against fantasy fiction.
She's also a huge fan of books and comics with kick ass female protagonists so feel free to drop some recommendations by the Registration Desk when you're passing.
Mia Morgan-Ford
Memberships/Hospitality and Events
Pixie is a professional actor, director and chair of governors at a local primary school. Her love of fantasy fiction was sparked by her long suffering father, whom she made read 'Tales of Long Ago' by Enid Blyton and 'The Adventures of Uncle Lubin' by W. Heath Robinson to her, over and over again, until the books themselves became a catalogue of the different types of sellotape available throughout the 1970s. At University she developed her playwriting skills with such glowing feedback as "That was reet good" and is planning a revival of one piece to be produced by her through her company 'Pixie House'. Last year she completed a long standing ambition to turn a dissused classroom, at school into a library space. After weeks of painting, clearing, laying floor tiles, building flat pack furniture and begging, borrowing and... ahem... 'acquiring', Springfield Primary School now has a dedicated space where young people can escape into the wonderful world of books, be it for pleasure, research or even just some quality time with parents/carers at morning library club. Pixie has two children and lives in a village sandwiched between Derby and Nottingham.
